House Skyblade

Posted by Mindblade16 - November 26th, 2020

Let’s talk about Windchime Skyblade.

Windchime is a foil for Turok within the Drift Empire. She also has the same dynamic with House Mindblade as her brother Razus.

Turok was born to House Rhygear on Cerrus. The Rhygear Family was all about Technology to an extreme level for a long time in Cerran History. The Drift Empire is just a Metaversal version of an Ancient Nation on Cerrus that was deep into Tech. So, Turok had a reason to build his Empire the way he did.

Both Windchime and Razus left House Mindblade for different reasons. One was a scapegoat, and the other a traitor. Razus formed House Razorblade, and Windchime formed House Skyblade.

Razus was more of a victim at first, and grew scornful at his father for banishing him. Windchime was just straight-out evil from the start. Not the obvious kind like Razus, who you could see a mile away with his roguish aura. This woman was a hidden evil, the kind that sweetly surrounds you with poison mist while boosting your ego. Nothing about Windchime suggested anything but perfection and light. She shared that glory with Mathias, and bathed in that light for much of her upbringing. Nobody suspected her betrayal at all, and it wasn’t even uncovered until she appeared in the Drift Empire as Chancellor Windchime Skyblade.

Windchime is a foil for Turok in the Drift Empire because she’s responsible for building her new house into a Borg-like Hivemind. That divided the Drift into two factions. Rhygear and Skyblade.

House Rhygear believed in using a Wireless Brain Network Infrastructure as a regular benefit of Civilization, just like Travel and Agriculture Infrastructure. It didn’t take over your Mind, but you could reach out by Free Will and use it as you liked.

House Skyblade believed in using that network to cluster Humans together like Supercomputers, completely, as a Forced Massively Multi Human Organism called “Fleet”. Windchime became so enamoured with Technology combined with Avarice that she became enslaved to something she herself created, and spread out like a Virus among the Transhuman Drift Citizens.

Those following Turok quickly formed a defense against that Virus, and those that fell to it, joined mindlessly with the Living Botnet of House Skyblade.

It was the Wizard Typhus who stole Coin’s Time Machine and gave Windchime a path off of Cerrus in the first place, throwing her into a world with luxuries she hadn’t dreamt of. That rich world consumed her, and led her down a path that would transform her into who she became as an adult.

Chancellor Windchime.

The reasoning for calling the forced Hive-mind "Fleet" came from my impression of the Anti-Individuality Sentiment of the USMC, and the slow brainwashing factor that made a person useless to civilian society because they could progressively no longer be anything but what the Marines made them into.

It was one of the reasons I didn't want to reenlist. Indoctrination doesn't stop with boot camp. It creeps in on low power over your years in service. The regular military job after MOS School was "Fleet". I called Turok's Army of Living Starships "Fleet" in my original version of Legends of Wind written in High School, but the deeper meaning didn't occur to me until I had experienced the US Marine Corps.

"Windchime" was an undeveloped character at the time I invented her, and she was supposed to be the Metaversal Version of my Sister. It was supposed to be a gift to my family to give them characters in my story. I did a similar thing with my Mom in the character of "Flamewing". But, given that Windchime is being developed into an Antagonist, I retracted that offer, since I don't want to describe my beloved Sister in such poor taste. Flamewing is being cut out entirely because I would be having too much fun turning her into an even worse Antagonist, and I don't need to rile myself up any further with my feelings concerning her real life namesake.

I was going to gift my Father with "Bluestar", but I recently decided to give him the character of "Earthstone", as the Father of Mathias and Patriarch of House Mindblade. He is respected on Cerrus and serves as one of the High Lords of the Power Gates in the Heavenly Realm of Domminna.
