Game Design - Orbspace

Posted by Mindblade16 - September 30th, 2024

This blog post is the basis for my Game Design of the current Game I am working on, atm called "Orbspace."

Game Engine: Unity.

Genre: Science-Fiction.

World Dynamic: Open Orbspace: Open Star System: Open World.

A Planet is an Open World. There are 16 Planets in Orbspace.

There are 4 Star Systems, with 4 Planets each, each orbiting a Star.

Orbspace has 4 Stars.

This Star Map is on the Player's Starship.

With a Starship, the Player may travel between Star Systems and Planets.

Each Planet has a Level that is an Orbit around the Planet, and another Level that is the Starship Bay on the Ground.

The Starship Bay requires the costs of Parking Fees, Equipment Fees, and Crew Fees.

The Player is a Starship Captain, and they must pay the Salaries of the Starship Crew, Electric Battery Charging Fees, Missile Stocking Fees, Galley Stocking Fees, Rocket Fuel Stocking Fees, and Starship Mechanic Fees.

The Player starts with a Starship Captain's Grant from their Empire, but they must earn in the Orbspace Economy to fund the Operations of their Starship beyond this limited one-time payment. This at least allows a Captain to get started, but they may find themselves Grounded if they fail to earn the correct minimum in the prescribed timeframe. In this case, their work is limited to Planet-Side Economics, which is much less rewarding than Stellar and Interstellar Economics.

With enough Work, the Grounded Captain may reclaim their Path to the Stars. The Ship is Locked in the Bay by Government Decree, until the Starship License is properly renewed by the Submission of the Minimum Amount of Funds for Annual Starship Operation.

The Captain's Chair and High Command Deck are in the High Center. On the Sides are 4 places for the Additions of Chairs and Screens for Tactical Command Crew. The Lower Command Deck is for Engineering and Communications.
